Advanced Deployments

Several advanced deployment approaches are available for Ignition beyond those described within the Installing and Upgrading section. For instance, Ignition has an official Docker image available on Docker Hub that follows the Open Container Initiative (OCI) Runtime and Image specifications. Additionally, users looking to run large-scale deployments can take advantage of the official Helm charts for Kubernetes orchestration.

An important aspect to be aware of for these deployment methods, regardless of selection, is that they depend on leased licensing for use. Leased licenses, also called eight-character licenses, differ from a standard six-character license as they require an activation token and must frequently check in with an activation service to remain valid. Regular monitoring and thorough understanding of your leased license status is necessary to avoid Gateway activation issues.
