# Catalyst

> Users can utilize AI models in Ignition to perform tasks. Ignition does not provide any AI models itself, but instead allows users to integrate their existing AI model, such as Claude or ChatGPT. The integrated model can then provide Gateway diagnostic information, give guidance on designing your project, and more.

## Catalyst Offerings

Inductive Automation offers two Catalyst modules, both centered around AI functionality. The [Catalyst Core](catalyst-core\catalyst-core.md) module ships with the Ignition platform by default, and is compatible Standard, Cloud, Maker, and Edge. With Catalyst Core, you can connect to an AI provider and model, which can then be used throughout the rest of your system.

With the Catalyst Agent module, you can configure your own AI agents to help with specific parts of your project. You can also create MCP servers and tools within Ignition, allowing them to connect Ignition to external agentic workflows. The Catalyst Agent module is compatible with Standard, Cloud, and Maker editions. See the [Catalyst Agent](catalyst-agent/catalyst-agent.md) page to explore the added functionality of that module.
