# Enterprise Historian Module

> The Enterprise Historian module, created in collaboration with Tiger Data, is built to work seamlessly with Ignition systems. It includes two modes to either connect directly to the new TimescaleDB for Ignition, or integrate with other commercial versions of TimescaleDB.

The Enterprise Historian module requires the Historian Core module to be installed on the same Gateway.

## Connecting to the Enterprise Historian

Once the Historian Core and Enterprise Historian modules are installed and enabled, you can access the Gateway and navigate to **Services** > **Historian** > **Providers**. Select **Create Historian** to add an Enterprise Historian. This historian includes refined data management with redundancy support, gapless failover, and improved query performance.

This historian type is recommended for use in large-scale operations and is designed to handle large volumes of time-series data with optimized connection protocols.
